Southern Tide was founded in 2006 by Carolina-bred Allen Stephenson. He was an enterprising 23-year-old with no apparel experience but possessed a burning desire to revitalize classic Southern clothing for a new generation. As soon as Allen’s original Skipjack polos hit the shelves, demand skyrocketed like fireworks off a sailboat. Allen knew he was onto something. Since those beginnings, Southern Tide has grown into a full preppy lifestyle brand.
Inspired by coastline colors and the relaxed lifestyle of the South, Southern Tide rocks gently between casual and refined. Their line can easily be dressed up or down, affording endless wardrobe choices. Of course, all preps require their very own polo — be forewarned that once you try the Skipjack, you’ll need one in every color. But Southern Tide doesn’t stop with shirts. The brand has created men’s pants, shorts and boxers that famously fit so well they’ll make any Southern belle blush. And speaking of Southern belles, the company’s women’s line is graceful enough for the most ladylike, but comfy enough to wear every day. Flickering with subtle details like signature trim tucked under skinny jean cuffs, Southern Tide’s signature stretch fabric wraps you in a flattering, preppy embrace. Girly gingham Oxfords, bright silk camis and flirty scalloped dresses make you want to reach for another glass of sweet tea. Also, we at prononces adore their fun tees, polos, and more for kids who are presently prepping to be preps. Allen and his team may be redefining preppy for a new era, but Southern Tide remains firmly anchored in their Dixie heritage.
